Advocacy : Responsive Caregiving and Playful Parenting
The M-nurturing Project organised a “Father’s Class” in Pancoran Mas District in Depok City, Indonesia, to raise awareness about the importance of fathers and male engagement in parenting. Seventy-three fathers attended the class where they learnt about games and storytelling while understanding how fathers play an equal and vital role in raising children. ARNEC and the National Coalition of Holistic Integrative ECD (HI ECD Coalition) are partnering under the project, with ECRN assistance, to support evidence-based system-level change in support of responsive caregiving and parenting in Indonesia and the Philippines.
Besides offline trainings, the project also engages fathers and other male caregivers through highly popular social media channels in Indonesia (Instagram and TikTok) by sharing parenting tips, dos and don’ts, and practical guidance on supporting their child’s growth. The posts also often highlight how an active, engaged husband can provide crucial support to his wife and their developing fetus. Besides sharing real voices and experiences of parents, the project also collaborates with experts such as psychologists to provide professional insights, and works with local cadres to discuss important materials in child development and caregiving.
